Arrival

My thoughts: This is one of those movies that requires multiple watchings. The first time I watched it was "it was fine." Then I re-watched it several years later and its pretty great.

Austin Powers

My thoughts: All three movies are great. I love the character names and all of the different jokes. A masterpiece of comedy, three different times.

Avatar

My thoughts: Seeing this in 3D was special. Its got an amazing story with great acting and special effects. Love this movie.

Batman: The Dark Knight

My thoughts: I also liked Batman Begins too but this one is in another tier. And Heath Ledger's Joker? So good.

Be Cool

My thoughts: I saw this before I saw Get Shorty, which was also good. The Rock was so funny as the flamboyant bodyguard trying to become an actor. The acting is great all around though. Fun story.

Bedtime Stories

My thoughts: This movie is special to me because I remember watching it a lot with my kids when they were little. But its a good movie too.

Big Trouble

My thoughts: Underrated gem. Its funny with good acting and the movie is a fun ride.

Blast From The Past

My thoughts: I remember seeing this one in the theater. I love the story and seeing Fraser's character develop. Some funny moments too.

Blended

My thoughts: Maybe my favorite Adam Sandler movie. My kids love it too. Its great. And you cant deny that Sandler / Berrymore connection. They just work so well together.

Boss Level

My thoughts: Underrated gem. Progressing through the story is kind of like progressing through a video game. Lots of action but also a great story and ending.

Bulletproof Monk

My thoughts: There is just something about this movie that I like. I re-watch it every now and then. Some funny parts, some action, fun story.

Christmas Vacation

My thoughts: My all time favorite Christmas movie, but also one of my all time favorite overall movies. Genius comedy and a fun ride.

Christmas With The Kranks

My thoughts: I watch this one every year during Christmas.

Delirious

My thoughts: Special to me for one very specific reason - it was the first movie I ever rented by myself (and it was VHS.) I tried to rent Double Impact with Jean Claude Van Damme but my mom had put a rated R restriction on the account so I had to get something else and settled on this one. Its fine.

Dodgeball

My thoughts: Ben Stiller plays the goofy villain so well in this. And you cant help but fall in love with the underdogs. Some great quotes in this movie too.

Dumb and Dumber

My thoughts: Genius comedy. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels work so well together and this movie has tons of funny quotes that I still use over 20 years later.

Edge of Tomorrow

My thoughts: I love the concept of this movie. The acting is great. The story is great. The ending is well done. A must-watch.

Elf

My thoughts: Another great Christmas movie and one that gets played every year. Will Ferrel plays Buddy the Elf to perfection.

Employee of the Month

My thoughts: One of my most watched movies. I like to put it on to fall asleep to. Not because its boring but because I love it and can watch it unlimited times without getting bored with it.

Equilibrium

My thoughts: An earlier Christian Bale movie but with a cool premise that nobody is allowed to "feel" anymore. And this movie gave us Gun Kata. So cool.

Evolution

My thoughts: This movie has a charm about it. The acting is good and the story is fun.

Explorers

My thoughts: This one holds a special place in my heart because it was my favorite movie for a while as a young kid. I haven't seen it in decades but still cherish it.

For Love or Money

My thoughts: Another one that just has a charm about it that I like. Michael J Fox is great in it, as are the other actors. A good story.

Groundhog Day

My thoughts: A classic. Bill Murray is great as is the rest of the cast. A cool concept executed very well.

Guardians of the Galaxy

My thoughts: At times this is my #1 movie. I didn't read comics as a kid so didn't know about GOTG before the movie but somehow I knew I would love this one. I even bought a GOTG T-shirt that I wore when I went to watch it. And sure enough, I instantly loved it.

Hook

My thoughts: I was 11 when this movie came out and I liked it so much I watched it three times in theaters. Its the only movie I had seen three times in theaters on original release.

Inception

My thoughts: I am very intrigued by dreams and the dream world, and this movie is all about dreams. Great acting and a great story.

Independence Day

My thoughts: I saw this in theaters when it came out and it was awesome. I was extremely into aliens and UFOs at the time, so it was like this movie was made for me.

Interstellar

My thoughts: I love the ideas presented in this movie, like exploring different dimensions and planets. And I love the story and ending.

John Wick

My thoughts: One of the all-time best action movies and maybe the best ever revenge movie. Reeves nails the part. All four of these movies are awesome.

Jumper

My thoughts: It's not that this is a great movie, but I love the concept, and the movie is good enough. It would be so cool to be able to teleport.

Jurassic Park

My thoughts: I got to see this one twice in theaters as a kid, and once as an adult. Everyone knows Jurassic Park, it's great. But man they just cannot make a good follow up to it, even with today's technology.

Kingpin

My thoughts: Everyone is great in this movie, and the Farrelly Brothers made a great comedy with this one. A must-watch if you love comedies.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

My thoughts: Spy movies aren't typically my thing but this one does it differently, and very well. Cool action scenes and a good story with a satisfying ending.

Lucky Number Slevin

My thoughts: Seems like an underrated gem. It's one of those movies with a cool twist you didn't expect. I mention this one when people ask for movie recommendations.

Lucy

My thoughts: Awesome movie and Johansson plays the lead very well. Its an interesting exploration of the idea of what if humans used the full capacity of their brains?

Men In Black

My thoughts: This also came out in my UFO/Alien heyday. I loved this movie right away. Will Smith was all the rage back in the day and he nails his role. But Tommy Lee Jones does just as good, and together they made a really good movie. The second one was fine but the third one is also great. And then we got MIB International, which I also like. And then there was the TV show MIB The Series which is also cool.

Mystery Men

My thoughts: I love this movie. It might be my most re-watched movie of all. Another one I like to put on when I go to bed. The comedy is genius, the cast all play their parts great. A lot of good quotes in this one. It's my #1 favorite movie at times.

Oceans 11

My thoughts: The cast of this movie all did so great. I like heist stories, and this one does it in style.

Office Space

My thoughts: A great movie and one I connect with because I have worked in an office for about 18 years and counting, so I can relate to it. But I would still love the movie even if I didn't work in an office, its good.

Paul

My thoughts: The best alien movie I've seen. Super funny but also extra cool if you're into UFOs and aliens, which I am.

Ready Player One

My thoughts: I love this movie. Its a cool concept and a fun ride from start to finish. The book is good too.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

My thoughts: Oh man this movie made me want a bow and arrow so bad as a kid. I used to daydream about living in the woods a lot. Great movie.

Step Brothers

My thoughts: SO FUNNY. Ferrell and Reilly play their parts perfectly and have amazing chemistry. This one can be re-watched a ton and not get old.

Surviving Christmas

My thoughts: Another Christmas movie I watch every year. It has that charm to it that I love. I'm not a fan of Affleck but he was good in this one. So was the rest of the cast. It's a fun Christmas movie.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

My thoughts: OMG my 10 year old self was so into TMNT so this movie was the best thing ever for a while. I still like it but need to re-watch it since its been a while.

The Fast and the Furious

My thoughts: I was already into the tuner scene when this came out, and from what I could see, I had the only "tuned" car in the parking lot with my 2000 Dodge Neon. So I was into this one right away. Cool movie. RIP Paul Walker.

The Fifth Element

My thoughts: I remember having the VHS of this movie because it had a shiny foil cover. Its a great movie with a lot of things going on in it. Good story and ending.

The Man From Earth

My thoughts: What a cool movie. Its not action packed, at all. Its more about making you think, by telling a fascinating story.

The Matrix

My thoughts: One of my favorite movies, obviously. Its a must-watch movie, especially in this new age of AI. The fighting and special effects are awesome.

The Never Ending Story

My thoughts: This is another special one that was my favorite movie for a while as a kid. It's a cool story and I need to re-watch it because I have not seen it in many years.

The Princess Bride

My thoughts: A classic. Its a great story that has you hooked the whole way through. The ending is great too. Very good movie.

The Thirteenth Floor

My thoughts: This one makes you question reality similar to The Matrix. A really cool movie with a good cast.

The Truman Show

My thoughts: Jim Carrey nailed comedies but he can also nail drama movies. Cool concept executed well.

Tron Legacy

My thoughts: The music in this movie is amazing. But the movie itself is also pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of the original Tron but love this one.

Tropic Thunder

My thoughts: A comedic masterpiece. All of the actors nail their roles. But Robert Downey Jr steals the show. He was great in this.

Wanted

My thoughts: This movie always gets me pumped up. I saw this in the theater and I had to pee sooooo bad but I was trying to hold it until the end. But then my body shot up in my chair unintentionally so I knew I had to go because I wasn't going to be able to hold it much longer. Of course I get back and find out I missed a really cool scene.

Wayne's World

My thoughts: I was a little younger than the age group this movie was made for but still somehow I connected with it as a kid and still love it today. I'm a big fan of Mike Myers and Dana Carvey is good too. I used to watch this on VHS every night when I went to bed when I was younger.

Welcome To Mooseport

My thoughts: Its a goody comedy but has a special charm. This one is special because it was the first movie I had saved on the DVR and that was how I used to re-watch it.

Without a Paddle

My thoughts: This is one of those movies that I just instantly had a connection with. It's a fun story and the actors all play off each other well.

Zombieland

My thoughts: I'm not a huge zombie person but I like this one. I really like the way it was shot and how the story goes along. Cool movie.
